Costco offers a nice selection of top hearing aid brands.

They include the following 5 brands:

Philips: They are the newest manufacturer of hearing aids on this list.

Kirkland Signature: These are built by Sonova, the same company that makes Phonak, Unitron, and Hansaton hearing aids.

Phonak: Considered to be a premium brand.

ReSound: Danish company famous for making the Made for iPhone hearing aid.

Rexton: While still good, these are considered a slightly less expensive brand.

Many of the models from these brands are sold exclusively at Costco.

Its common knowledge that some of the models Costco sells are slightly watered down versions of themselves and have less features.

Always compare features when deciding where to buy your hearing aids.

Do your research ahead of time and figure out what features you actually want and make sure the hearing aids you buy have all those included.

Finding The Best Hearing Aid Fit

A great hearing aid fit hinges on three things, audiologists say:

Your type of hearing loss. Many people lose hearing in the high frequencies first. Others have difficulty across all frequencies. Hearing tests measure sensitivity, or how loud a sound has to be to be heard, and clarity, or how well someone can understand speech. Often, youll also get a speech in noise test. These results create a sound prescription for the best hearing aid for you.

Your lifestyle. Do you work? Do you love dining in restaurants? Do you listen to podcasts? Your lifestyle suggests which features, such as Bluetooth connectivity, are important. Also, certain hearing aid styles, such as behind-the-ear or completely-in-the-canal are better or worse for certain situations.

Your dexterity. If you have trouble manipulating batteries, a rechargeable hearing aid is often recommended.

Based on these findings and your budget, your hearing professional will recommend style, technology level and features. At the end of the day, the best hearing aid is the one the person will wear, says Palmer.

Once your hearing aid is programmed and customized for you, real-ear measurements are typically performed. This is an important test to ensure your hearing aids are meeting your sound prescription. At this point or later checkups, an audiologist may also recommend accessories such as a clip-on remote microphone, which can dramatically help you hear one particular person.

How Do Costco Hearing Aid Prices Compare

Costco Hearing Aids | The GOOD, The BAD, & The UGLY

The average cost for a pair of hearing aids is about $5,000, which may not include exams, fittings, follow-up appointments, and extended warranties. It’s not uncommon to spend $8,000 or more on a pair of high-tech hearing aids at a hearing center.

Costco sells national-brand hearing aids at a steep discount. For example, the Phonak Brio ITC hearing aid starts at just $2,700 a pair when comparable hearing center models can cost $4,000 or more.

Costco Kirkland hearing aids represent the best value among the brands sold by Costco. At $1,500 a pair, the Kirkland Signature provides a level of technology and popular features similar to the Phonak Brio but costs $1,000 less.

While Costco’s prices are much lower than hearing center prices, they are still higher than those of many hearing aid brands you can purchase online.

    HEARING AID PRICES

You just received an offer for $1,000.00 off a pair of Oticon or Resound hearing aids. Wow, thats great! Im told all the time I have hearing loss and I never thought of using hearing protection to prevent this loss. But how much do these listening devices cost?

Lets cut to the chase. Oticon hearing aids, and all quality hearing aids for that matter, are expensive. A single hearing aid can range from $699 to $3,999, which means you could be looking at a price range of $1,400 – $8,000 if you need one for each ear, which is what most people need.

The Cheapest Hearing Aid Is Not Always The Least Expensive

I know youve heard this phrase before. Take paint for example. Yes, you can buy the cheapest can available, but you will end up spending more overall to repaint again because the cheapest was less durable.

The same can be said for hearing aids. You can buy some cheap online hearing aids or go to a big box store like Costco or Sams Club, but what will these cheap hearing aids cost you when they break or stop working?

Some studies show that 23% of patients fitted with hearing aids stop wearing them. One of the reasons given for non-use of the hearing aids is they were not an ideal match in comparison to the loss of hearing.

    • In the ear hearing aids: These include invisible in canal , completely in the canal hearing aids and in the canal hearing aids. These low profile options are discrete visually, but you should find options with a trial period to ensure that you don’t mind having a speaker in ear.

    • Over the ear hearing aids: These are similar to behind the ear hearing aids but they fit over the outer ear.
    • Personal sound amplification: If you have moderate hearing loss and your hearing test does not indicate you need a hearing aid full time, you may choose a personal sound amplifier headset. The Best Hearing Aid Technology

3 Biggest Lies In The Hearing Aid Industry And Why They Should Make You Angry

Most hearing aid manufacturers offer four levels of technology, such as basic, standard, advanced and premium. The higher the tech level, the more sophisticated the hearing processing and options for customization. Also, the higher the cost.

Data shows that standard aids, properly programmed for your specific hearing loss, offer good performance for most people, says Palmer. Many providers can adjust and upgrade your hearing aids remotely to keep them up-to-date with your hearing even if mobility or health concerns prevent in-person visits.

Many hearing aids have a telecoil, or a tiny copper wire that enables people to hear better in venues wired with an audio induction loop, a type of assistive listening service technology. Hearing loops are becoming increasingly common in theaters, schools, and other facilities.
