Theres No Sound From My Hearing Aids
Theres no issue more alarming or pressing than hearing aids that dont produce sound. But dont fret just yet a lot of these instances have simple fixes.
For one, significant earwax build-up can block sound from the microphone opening and sound outlet. Earwax build-up causes temporary hearing loss essentially feeling like the condition is worsening. If you lose sound in your hearing aids, check for earwax debris blocking the microphone opening and sound outlet.
Make sure that your hearing aids are turned on, and the batteries are correctly placed. Your hearing aid usually turns on once the battery doors are closed if you have trouble closing them, it means the battery is placed upside down. Try removing the battery, flipping it out, and reinserting it correctly. If this doesnt work, it could indicate low or dead batteries, which need to be replaced.
Are your hearing aids really not transmitting sound or the volume just needs to be turned up? In some cases, you just need to adjust the volume and turn it up, or toggle between programs or memories for optimal volume and noise cancellation settings across listening situations.
How Can The Phonak Audo Marvel Improve Your Life
The Phonak Marvel is packed with convenient features, but above all, it delivers clear, rich sound. Users can expect to understand speech in noisy settings better and with much less effort. The Marvel delivers ease of listening that you have to hear to believe.
Phonak was the first hearing aid to offer lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, which are the longest-lasting batteries currently available. A full charge will give users 32 hours of use, which even includes six to eight hours of Bluetooth streaming.
Unlike many other types of hearing aids, the Phonak Marvel can connect to any Bluetooth device. Whether you have a Jitterbug, Amazon Alexa, an Android or iPhone, or even a smart TV, you can connect your hearing aid for easier listening.
Old hearing aids were notorious for being bulky, but Phonak has completely redesigned the Marvel with comfort in mind. The receiver is sturdier than previous generations, and the domes are more comfortable than ever.
A significant upgrade with the Marvel model hearing device is that it is completely encased. Moisture is an issue in Alabama if its not hot and humid, then its raining! Excessive moisture is hard on electronics, but the latest generation of Phonak hearing aids are more water repellant than ever. Patients no longer need to worry about battery corrosion.

The plus button will increase the volume and the minus button will decrease the volume.Remotes are not mandatory as you can make the changes on the hearing aids by uses a push button, rotary wheel or the toggle switch as described above. Adjust The Volume On Your Hearing Aid By Using App On Your Phone

Many but not all of hearing aids today have the ability to connect to cell phones using Bluetooth. Some have the ability to go directly to the phone from the hearing aid and others require a Bluetooth intermediary device. Either way, if it connects to your phone it has an app that can be used to control the hearing aids. The benefit of using the app to adjust your hearing aids is that it is indiscrete. Meaning that your co-workers or anyone else around you will probably think you are sending a text, checking an email or playing a game on your phone. If you would like to adjust the volume on your hearing aids by using an app, just search the brand name of your hearing aids in the app store on your phone.

Modern Features Make Life Easier For Hearing Aid Wearers
Most NHS hearing aids have a T setting for telecoil. When you set your aid to T it allows you to use special listening equipment, such as an induction loop or a telephone described as hearing aid compatible. If your hearing aid has an O-T-M switch, most of the time you will switch to M to pick up sounds through the hearing aid microphone. But you need to switch to T to use an induction loop or hearing aid compatible telephone.
Other models have a button that you press for the T setting. When there is no loop, if you put your hearing aid on the T setting by mistake you will probably hear a buzzing or humming noise, but you will not pick up anything else.
These allow hearing aid users to pick up sound more clearly at a distance or across a counter window by using the T setting.
A loop system transfers sound direct to the hearing aid, reducing most background noise. You will find induction loops in many theatres, conference halls, booking offices and at bank counters. You can also have an induction loop fitted at home, for listening to TV and audio equipment for example.
If you see this symbol then it will often mean that there is an induction loop system fitted. For further help and information on induction loops and other accessories to help hearing please contact Hi Kent on 01227 760046 or visit its website at Hi Kent
Tips For Using Manual Volume Control
- Push the lever, or upper part of the control, upwards to gradually raise the volume.
- Push the lever, or lower part of the volume control, downwards to gradually lower the volume.
- Each time you operate the volume control, you will hear a beep unless you have chosen to deactivate tones.
- When you raise the volume, you will hear a higher beep-tone for each step the volume is raised.
- When you lower the volume, you will hear a lower beep-tone for each step the volume is lowered.
- A steady tone will sound when the maximum or minimum volume is reached.
NOTE: Any adjustment of the volume setting will be cancelled when your hearing aid is turned off, or if you change program.
If your hearing aids are InterEar, the volume is adjusted by using the volume control on just one of the hearing aids. For example, when you adjust the volume control on the right hearing aid, the volume automatically changes to the same level on the left hearing aid.

Dont Turn Up The Volume
If you often turn up the volume on the TV, your family has probably been asking you to turn it down, and they complain that its far too loud. When the TV is loud, you can hear some of the dialogue. But even with the volume on high, you still cant quite make out whats being said. Thats because hearing loss doesnt affect all sounds in the same way. Youre more likely to have hearing loss in higher frequencies. Youll have a harder time hearing high pitched sounds such as consonants. This means that hearing loss will affect sound clarity, not just volume.

Hearing Aid Consumer Comments About Self
I have been wearing hearing aids for 56 years . I prefer to have a manual hearing aid volume control.which I dont have now.
I have been voicing my displeasure about lack of volume control ever since I have been using my present aids. I cannot control volume with telecoil on. It is always much too loud. Why arent professionals aware of this problem? Why have a telecoil if it is unusable?
Ive worn two aids for about 15 years. I consider user VC essential, regardless of what else is built in. First, we all know that lots of hearing aids never leave the drawer. Are there any figures on usage of VC versus non-VC aids? Second, its not just the input levels that change, the users level of interest in the environment changes. When Im in a bus or train, the background noise is very loud, and I have no need to talk to people, so I turn the volume way down. So thanks for questioning the trend to non-VC aids}]Howarth, B. Am I A Good Candidate For A Hearing Aid
When you join us for a Lunch & Learn, Dr. Abby Turnbough will conduct a free hearing test if you dont have a current one on file. The test will assess, among other things, a patients ability to understand speech. To stimulate what a hearing aid would be like, Dr. Turnbough will turn up the volume to a comfortable level and then say a list of words. The patient will repeat the words back so that Dr. Turnbough can assess his or her speech discrimination capability. Patients who score higher than 40% on speech discrimination will usually benefit from using a hearing aid.
Patients whose speech discrimination score is below 40% may not receive many benefits from a hearing aid. After years of hearing loss, people may struggle to decipher speech because they have lacked stimulation to the brain. Unfortunately, our brain treats hearing as a use it or lose it skill. People whose ears have not been communicating with their brain may lose their ability to understand speech adequately. In that case, a hearing aid would likely be more distracting than helpful.
How To Fix The Problems
Anyway, enough cursing at Bluetooth, you people came here to find out how to fix the problem when it arises. We will look at some of the general issues we have heard and discuss quick fix jobs and the possible nuclear options. Before we look at the issues, we need to say that you need to always make sure that you are running the most up-to-date app, the most up-to-date software on your phone and your hearing aids have the most up-to-date firmware onboard.
Audio streaming to one ear only: This happens some times because your body gets in the way of streaming. Moving your phone from where it is, often fixes it. If however, that doesnât do the job, turn your Bluetooth off, then on again, more often than not fixes the issue. If not, you can then try to turn your hearing aids off and on. If that fails, you need to begin considering the nuclear option, forget the devices on your phone and in your hearing aids app. Then restart your phone and re-pair them. In general, that solves all problems.
The app refuses to connect: Try turning your hearing aids on and off, then try to connect. You can then turn the Bluetooth on the phone off and on. If it stubbornly refuses, you need to forget the devices on your phone in the Bluetooth devices list and in your hearing aids app. Restart your phone and then re-pair them.

Available Hearing Aid Modes Programs And Settings
The programs and settings present in your hearing aid depend on the specific device you have. Around three to five programs tend to come as a default, such as a program for hearing speech in quiet environments, and another for hearing conversations when its loud, Sherry says.
Your audiologist can add more or take them away, she says. Typically the default program is set for listening in a quiet environment.
With more processing power, hearing aids may offer programs such as:
- A wind noise reduction program thatll cut down on the sounds of wind whipping around the mic
- Feedback suppressionto quell a whistling reverb in your ears
- A car program, which adjusts the microphones direction to help you pick up what the person in the passenger seat is saying, to help overcome a common hearing problem when driving
- A birding program to help pick up the fast-moving, high-pitched sounds of birdsong
