Does Everyone Have A Ringing In Their Ears

Is Tinnitus A Permanent Condition Or Can It Go Away In Time

Whats that ringing in your ears? – Marc Fagelson

Its usually quite easy to tell when there is something wrong with your ears. Experiencing hearing loss will be a big giveaway, but pain can also be a sign that something is wrong. Of course, though, few symptoms will be harder to live with than being able to hear a buzz or a whine all the time.

Tinnitus is defined as the perception of noise or ringing in the ears, and the problem is usually a physical one. Thanks to where this noise comes from, it can be extremely difficult to tune it out, with those who have tinnitus hearing it all the time. This can make it hard to sleep or listen to things using headphones, along with a range of other frustrating issues. More than 15% of people experience tinnitus at some point in their lives, making this condition far more common than a lot of people expect. But how long does tinnitus last?

What Does Ringing In The Left Ear Mean Spiritually

When I speak with someone with ongoing ringing in their left ear, I like to begin questioning their life based on the feminine side. Often the feminine energy in any of us represents many things. Our intuition, the giving part of us, nurturing side, creativity, collaborativeness, caring, and the ability to be grateful in life.

Questioning will take the natural course of exploring these different areas which are vastly different for every person. To understand the areas in which a person is excelling or where there may be room for improvement that spirit is trying to show us.

The reason behind taking this course of action is to see if spirit is trying to deliver an understanding, teaching or lesson. This is to continue to allow you to build awareness on a conscious level that was previously only understood on a spiritual level.

Once educated on the topic, of course, anyone can explore this topic on their own. Still, sometimes it helps to have the assistance of a spiritual teacher or a therapist to assist you on this journey first.

How Is Tinnitus Treated

There is no cure for tinnitus, but the underlying cause may be treatable. There are some things you can do to manage tinnitus:

  • Work out what makes the tinnitus worse and avoid any triggers.
  • Avoid silence create background noise with the TV or radio.
  • Relax and avoid stress, as this will make tinnitus worse.
  • Talk to your doctor about medications that may be making the tinnitus worse, such as antibiotics, arthritis medications or antidepressants.
  • Limit caffeine in coffee, tea or cola.

To avoid the tinnitus getting worse, wear ear plugs or headphones if you are using noise-generating equipment or in a loud environment, such as a rock concert.

Good-quality, properly fitted hearing aids reduce and can even eliminate most tinnitus associated with hearing loss. Hearing aids reduce the strain of listening and distract you from the tinnitus by bringing you more sound from the environment around you.

Many people get used to the sounds they are said to habituate so their brain doesnt notice the tinnitus any more.

Some audiologists run specialist tinnitus clinics to help patients manage their tinnitus and they fit hearing aids and/or therapeutic noise generators if needed.

If you develop tinnitus, it’s important to see your clinician. She or he will take a medical history, give you a physical examination, and do a series of tests to try to find the source of the problem. She or he will also ask you to describe the noise you’re hearing and the times and places in which you hear it. Your clinician will review your medical history, your current and past exposure to noise, and any medications or supplements you’re taking. Tinnitus can be a side effect of many medications, especially when taken at higher doses .

Musculoskeletal factors jaw clenching, tooth grinding, prior injury, or muscle tension in the neck sometimes make tinnitus more noticeable, so your clinician may ask you to tighten muscles or move the jaw or neck in certain ways to see if the sound changes. If tight muscles are part of the problem, massage therapy may help relieve it.

Tinnitus that’s continuous, steady, and high-pitched generally indicates a problem in the auditory system and requires hearing tests conducted by an audiologist. Pulsatile tinnitus calls for a medical evaluation, especially if the noise is frequent or constant. MRI or CT imaging may be needed to check for a tumor or blood vessel abnormality.

What Does Ringing In The Right Ear Mean Spiritually

Like the left ear, the right ear is similar, but the approach is slightly different.

Often the masculine energy in any person represents logic, confidence, focus, strength, stability, vision, assertiveness and life goals for moving forward.

Same as the left ear, the questioning will solely be based upon exploring the areas above to see the current strengths in life. Its important to create a safe space to understand and heal any weaknesses that we discover while giving our honest answers.

Work With Your Audiologist To Find Relief

Before you pursue any non-medical options for tinnitus management, you need to see a doctor to rule out any underlying problem requiring medical or surgical intervention, says Dr. Sandridge. The next step is to have a hearing test done by an audiologist to determine if hearing loss could be the cause as well as to determine if you can benefit from sound therapy.

Unfortunately, at this point, there is no FDA-approved medication to treat tinnitus. The majority of management options are non-medical and should be directed by your audiologist who may work with other specialty professionals such as a dentist, a physical therapist or a psychologist to find the best treatment option for you.

These may include different types of counseling such as cognitive behavioral therapy , mindfulness therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy or sound therapy such as fans, sounds apps on your smartphones, hearing aids or sound generators.

The most common scenario is the rock concert: you go see Bruce Springsteen at your local arena and when you get home, you realize that there is ringing in your ears.

Of course, its exactly this type of noise damage that, over time, can cause hearing loss to move from temporary to chronic. Too many of those types of concerts and you may end up with permanent tinnitus.

Why Is Tinnitus Sometimes Irreversible

Usually, tinnitus is temporary. But sometimes it can be permanent. When the root cause is not ordinary thats particularly true When it comes to intensity and origin. Here are several examples:

  • Traumatic Brain Trauma : The brain is where the majority of sound is processed. When those processors begin to misfire, because of traumatic brain injury, tinnitus can be the result.
  • Hearing loss: In many cases, hearing loss and tinnitus are joined at the hip. So, whatever the cause of your hearing loss is, you could also wind up developing irreversible tinnitus along with it.
  • Repeated exposure: If your ears are buzzing after one rock concert, imagine how theyll feel after five rock concerts a week or if youre a musician who performs concerts and practices all day. Continued exposure to loud noises can lead to irreversible hearing damage, including tinnitus.

Short term tinnitus is a lot more common than lasting tinnitus. But permanent or chronic tinnitus still effects millions of Americans each year.
