Oticon Opn More Made For Iphone Problems
In my last article I discussed the Widex Beyond and the problems it is having with the iPhone. In this one, we will take a look at the Oticon Opn, which is having similar difficulties. In fact the online forums and in particular the Apple community forum is abuzz with the issue. As with the Widex Beyond, the problem isnât really the hearing aids, itâs the iPhone. Which is a shame, this is another case of a fantastic set of hearing aids being let down by a separate technology, just like the Widex Beyond.
About a month ago we became aware of a lot of issues around Made For iPhone hearing aids and connectivity to the iPhone. We have been researching the issues ever since. The issues reported with the Oticon Opn are similar in nature to the issues reported with the Widex Beyond. All of the problems seem to be related to the Bluetooth pairing of the hearing aids to the iPhone. During transmission of audio from the iPhone, it appears that the audio signal is dropped constantly by one aid or, it seems that the signal may jump from one ear to the other for no apparent reason.
However, Scott said that he had found a workaround and it seemed fine for him:
Iâve found that re booting my iPhone 7plus, then opening the battery compartments on my Opn MiniRites results in a good connection. I just paired my iPad mini2 to the MiniRites last evening following the same procedure. I use the Oticon Opn app on the phone and the iPad.

Connecting Hearing Aids To Your Smartphone
There are a growing number of made-for-smartphone hearing aids. This technology lets you send the audio from your phone, tablet, or laptop directly to your hearing aids. In short, you can use your hearing aids as wireless headphones. Not all hearing aids with Bluetooth are smartphone-compatible only the ones designated Made for iPhone or Made for Android. The good news is setting these up is simple the technology does most of the work for you! Whether you have Apple- or Android-compatible hearing aids, the idea is the same. The only difference is the steps you take on your smartphone to make it happen.
Turn on your Bluetooth
On either your iPhone or your Android phone, go to the Settings app. Find Bluetooth it should be near the top of the menu select it, then turn it on.
Locate your hearing aids in the list
On your iPhone, go back to the Settings app. Scroll down, find Accessibility, and select it. Scroll about halfway down that menu, find Hearing Devices, and select it. Your hearing aids should be listed. On your Android phone, once you turned on Bluetooth, your phone should have started looking for other Bluetooth-enabled devices to connect to. Within seconds, your hearing aids should be listed. For both phones, if your phone doesnt list your hearing aids within a few seconds, you may need to open and close the battery doors or put them on the recharger. This turns them off and then on again, which should help your phone find them.

Oticon Hearing Aids Are Not Pairing
When your hearing aids are not pairing try turning your hearing aids off and back on, then try to connect. You can then turn the Bluetooth on the phone off and on too. When this still did not work you should need to go back to the settings of your device. Got to the paired bluetooth devices and search for your hearing aids. Click on them and sellect forget this device.
Now you need to repair your Oticon hearing aids aigain. Therefore turn your hearing aids off and back on. They now enter the pairing mode for two minutes. Within the menu your hearing aids should now be on the list of devices you could select for pairing. Click on them. Repair them now they should work as usual again. When not run this process multiple times.
